Use of research facilities by societal stakeholders

This indicator pertains to the degree to which societal parties make use of research facilities, including digital infrastructures and databases, tools and designs, arising from research.

This covers use by societal groups of facilities arising from or based on research. Examples include the use of tools, software, databases, archives and collections.

For definitions of the various products (databases, digital infrastructures, tools, software, apps, designs), please see the indicators in Cell 4, Research products for societal target groups.

Provided that documentation is adequate, this is a useful indicator group. Evidence for database, infrastructure, app and tool use can be provided in the form of agreements concluded with civil society organisations, user records (number of downloads, registrations, logins), or references in publications, reports and proceedings, on websites, and in other general communication channels.

Reasoned indicator, as part of narrative.
